The DIRAC project tasks Astralis with designing and manufacturing an infrared diffraction-limited camera for the Eastern Anatolia Observatory in Turkey. DIRAC will be mounted on the Nasmyth platform of the 4 metre DAG telescope. It will be fed from the DAG adaptive optics system, and will be capable of imaging at a range of wavelengths using an internal filter wheel.
The DIRAC imager can support a broad range of scientific interests needing high-definition near-infrared imaging: from low-mass star and exoplanet search and characterisation to studies of star-formation in the Milky Way and nearby galaxies as well as analyses of intermediate and high redshift galaxies.
